Dion Jordan missed all of the Dolphins organized team activities, but will be under contract when the team opens training camp.
The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of Dion Jordan, their first-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, on Saturday. The 6'6, 248-pound pass rusher had shoulder surgery prior to the draft, but is expected to be healthy when the team opens training camp on Sunday.
As Kevin Nogle of The Phinsider explains, Jordan may be behind the curve when he joins his team after missing all but the team's rookie minicamp:
Jordan has not been able to work out with the team during any organized team activities or minicamps, other than the rookie minicamp, due to NFL rules. Because Jordan's college, Oregon, utilizes the quarter system, they did not finish their academic term until mid-June, and NFL rules stipulate the academic term in which the player is drafted must be completed before the player can join the team.
Here's what else you may have missed on Saturday:
Will Hill suspended for 4 games
New York Giants safety Will Hill will begin the regular season on the sideline after he was dealt a four-game suspension on Saturday for violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. The suspension may affect Hill's future with the team for more than just four games though, as it is the second four-game suspension he has received in the past year. Hill was previously suspended four games during the 2012 season for another violation of the substance abuse policy.
Manningham, Hunter to 49ers PUP list
Eight players on the San Francisco 49ers roster won't be available to participate in the team's training camp when it opens next week, as the team announced several moves on Saturday. Among the moves was the placement of Mario Manningham, Kendall Hunter and Kyle Hunter on the physically unable to perform list as well as the placement of Tank Carradine and Marcus Lattimore on the active/non-football injury list.
Kenny Stills on NFI list
The New Orleans Saints placed rookie wide receiver Kenny Stills on the non-football injury list on Saturday, along with linebackers Rufus Johnson and Eric Martin. Despite the move coming just days before the open of training camp, each of the three players are reportedly expected to be ready for camp. Stills was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft after accumulating 24 touchdown receptions in three seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners.
