Pregnant coach dies: A bus crash in Pennsylvania left a pregnant Seton Hill University coach and a bus driver dead.
The coach of a lacrosse team died in a bus crash in Pennsylvania on Saturday, reports said. The driver of the bus was also killed.
\>");The bus carrying Seton Hill University women?s?lacrosse players veered off the freeway and hit a tree on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, also injuring around two dozen other people, according to The Associated Press. The bus crashed at around 9 a.m.
The coach, 30-year-old Kristina Quigley, was flown via helicopter to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
?Seton Hill University has learned that the university?s head women?s lacrosse coach, Kristina Quigley, died of injuries sustained in the crash,??said school spokeswoman Kary Coleman in a statement obtained by Reuters.
?Quigley was pregnant, and her unborn baby boy died as a result of the crash as well,? she added.?
Other victims were flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, AP reported. Their conditions are not yet known. All other passengers were taken to nearby hospitals as a precautionary measure.
Duquesne University women?s lacrosse coach Mike Scerbo told AP that Quigley, who served as an assistant head coach there, was a warm and friendly person.
?In that time, I really saw how much passion she had to be a coach, and how much she enjoyed working with the kids,? Scerbo said. ?She was a teacher, and she wanted to help kids grow and learn, not just about the sport, but about life.?
Seton Hill, a small Catholic university east of Pittsburgh, was slated to play a women?s lacrosse game at Millersville University near Lancaster.
?Today?s women?s lacrosse game vs. Seton Hill has been canceled. Seton Hill was involved in a traffic accident en route to the game. We hope the best for all involved,? Millersville University Athletics said via Facebook.
State Police Public Information Officer Trooper Robert Hicks said in a press conference that police are investigating the accident, according to The Sentinel publication.
Seton Hill will hold a memorial for Quigley and the driver on Sunday, reported Reuters.
